Things happen all the year round

In summer and winter cultural activities are pursued on Tjörn in many different places. Meetings of the numerous associations and clubs are enlivened by music and narrative.

The local folklore society celebrates midsummer in traditional style and sees to the lighting of the May Day bonfire.

Young people get together to form music groups, taking part in rock concerts and in writing and drama workshops, while some of them are the proud holders of Scandinavian figure skating medals.

Concerts and plays, meetings with authors, lectures and exhibitions are all regularly available to the general public.

On the island of Åstol the ancient coastal ballad tradition is still fostered and enjoyed, along with memorable marine culinary experiences.
