An inspiring business climate

There are 1700 small companies registered on Tjörn making it one of the most densely populated in the country. Large companies exist also, the freighting and shipping companies for example, but the vast majority are self-employed businesses or those with very few employees.

This predominance of small companies allows Tjörn to adjust well to the ups and downs in the economy and to maintain good employment levels. In the spring of 2010, Tjörn was ranked second in Sweden with respect to speed of economic recovery. The island is marked by strong, expanding commerce and an entrepreneurial spirit.
